System requirements
If your computer satisfies the following requirements:
- IBM PC compatible;
- CPU between i386 and Pentium 233 MMX;
- Videocard compatible with VESA 1.2 in 800x600x256 colour mode;
- 6 Mb hard disc space free;
- 530 Kb free base RAM;
- 1 Mb free extended memory (XMS);
- Loaded XMS driver, compatible with
HIMEM or QEMM;
- Mouse compatible point device;
- CD-ROM drive;
- DOS 6.xx operating system,
you should have no problems with installation and using the program
LEGUMES.EXE.
Pentium II Bug
(Runtime Error 200)
If your computer has a CPU with a clock frequency of more than 233 MHz
(e.g., Pentium II or AMD K6), then starting the program located on the
CD is not assured.
If the message "Runtime error 200" is displayed
when trying to start the programs LEGUMES.EXE and
INSTALL.EXE, we recommend one of the following:
- Process the program with freely distributed patches
(details);
- Download a patched version of the program from our site
(details);
- Make a manual correction of a binary code of the program
(details);
- Download a version of the program for MS-Windows from our site
and use it to work with the CD
(details).
Working under Windows 95/98
If your computer has a Windows 95 or Windows 98 operating system,
you may have problems with the operation of the DOS-version of the program
in a multicolor mode, which are generally due to
incompatibility of videocard drivers with
VESA-modes. In this case, if icons of color illustrations and
multilayer maps are clicked, the computer may crash and need rebooting.
In such a situation, we recommend the following action:
- Reconfigure the program for work in a safe mode, without
using color illustrations and multilayer maps (for this purpose,
reinstall the CD and, when configuring, disable the multicolor mode and
the logo screen
(press the button "DISABLE" in the row "256 color pictures"), or
edit the file
LEGUMES.INI, i.e. specify in lines
"FullColorIllustrationViewing = Off" and
"ShowLogo = Off". For details about the file
LEGUMES.INI, see
Description of the file LEGUMES.INI.
- Refresh the Windows videodriver,
- Download
a version of the program for Windows
from our site and use it to work with the CD.
In most cases, the CD works correctly under DOS-sessions of
Windows 95 and Windows 98. In addition, you can try to run the program
in DOS emulation mode of Windows 95 or Windows 98.
Windows NT Problems
Under the Windows NT operating system, the program located on the CD
can only work in the safe mode (without using color illustrations and
multilayer maps). To take advantage of all the system abilities,
download a version of the program for Windows
from our site.
