Pentium II Bug Neutralization

Versions of the programs LEGUMES.EXE and INSTALL.EXE located on the CD, will probably not start on computers based on Intel Pentium II CPU. The main evidence of this problem is the display of the message "Runtime error 200" when trying to start the programs.

For this reason, in some cases, it is impossible even to execute an automatic installation of the system onto a hard drive. To solve this problem, we recommend the following:

  1. Download a patched version of the program INSTALL.EXE from our site and use it:
  2. Execute a manual installation of the system (for details, see files README.*, located on the CD);
  3. Copy the program INSTALL.EXE from the CD onto the hard drive, clear the attribute READ ONLY and process the program with any freeware patch. You can download one of the free patches from our site as an executable file: PENT2.EXE (6 Kb), or as a ZIP-archive with source code added: T-PENT2.ZIP (6 Kb).
  4. Copy the program INSTALL.EXE from the CD onto the hard drive, clear the attribute READ ONLY and make a manual correction of its hexadecimal code. For this purpose, open it in any hexadecimal editor (e.g., Norton DiskEdit), find the string F7 D0 F7 D2 B9 37 00 F7 and replace the byte 37 for FF .
After the operations specified above the program INSTALL.EXE can be run from any directory of your computer. The program will find a CD-ROM drive, and you will be able to make a system installation in an automatic mode.

If you cannot run the program LEGUMES.EXE, and the message "Runtime error 200" is displayed, we recommend the following ways to solve the problem:

  1. Download and use a patched version of the program LEGUMES.EXE: Extract the downloaded file (if necessary) and copy it into the directory the system was installed to, thereby overwriting the old file.
  2. Download a version of the program for Windows, free of problems with Pentium II, from our site.
  3. Process the program LEGUMES.EXE, located in the directory where the system was installed to, with any freeware patch. You can download one of the free patches from our site as an executable file: PENT2.EXE (6 Kb), or as a ZIP-archive with added source code: T-PENT2.ZIP (6 Kb).
  4. Make a manual correction of a hexadecimal code of the program LEGUMES.EXE, located in the directory where the system was installed to. For this purpose, open it in any hexadecimal editor (e.g., Norton DiskEdit), find the string F7 D0 F7 D2 B9 37 00 F7 and replace the byte 37 for FF .
